Who is “Coach Matt?”

Matthew Zachary Liu is a highly sought-after speaker and youth coach dedicated to empowering the next gen to reach their full potential and become the best versions of themselves. Being part of Maverick Movement made me face my biggest fears, leading to sort of a wake-up call and better understanding of myself. Some of the things that contributed to this shift include participating in life changing workshops, learning through unique experiences, meeting individuals who operate on a different level and mentors who recognized my potential and have assisted me in figuring out my career path. I was once at my lowest point, but because of Maverick Movement, I've actively committed to self-improvement every day, and life is looking up.

I've learnt so much from so many people I never thought I'd be able to meet. From national athletes, Harvard graduates, Miss Singapore Universe, and even entrepreneurs running multi-million dollar businesses!

It has been an eye opener that has brought me to realise many aspects about life and myself that I never knew I had.

The transition to Poly has not been easy for me, however whenever I am faced with different obstacles, I never fail to recall some of the things I've learnt such as resilience, critical thinking and being able to manage distractions and deadlines better. I am now able to think outside the box for solutions to any problem I face as well as manage my challenges and outcome better.

What They Say About Us

Go for it. Honestly Matt is so good with youths and one of the reasons for it is that he genuinely cares for each of them and sees them. Like, really see them. Beneath the tough exteriors, or rude brash behaviour, or even confident demeanours. The kids can sense when someone takes a genuine interest in them. And that, makes all the difference in the world. Of course, his ability to connect with them, and his sense of humor helps move things along!

Building up to day 1, my daughter was very anxious and it showed from her going inwards. However, during her first day, she occasionally texted me and I could tell she was enjoying it. At the end of day 1, when we picked her up, she was smiling and talking the entire car ride, sharing the highlights of the day and her achievements. One thing I noted from this day itself was she was a little less concerned about how people viewed her. As each day passed by, she was less worried about voicing out her wants and she was also more conscientious about little things, like thanking people, ensuring her guzheng exam recording was submitted etc. Finally, when I had a glimpse into her thoughts, I realised that what I had hoped she gained from this Masterclass, she had realised and shared with Matt. Thank you for bringing her through this wonderful journey and helping her level up and realizing her amazing potential.

As first time parents to newly minted youth, we're unsure of how or what to teach that's truly relevant and beneficial. We know that how we were brought up is very different and may not be sufficient for our child to face the challenges of tomorrow. Hence, very grateful for this Masterclass which is sincere and heartfelt. The activities, challenges, talks and sharing are all meaningful and able to instil positive and strong messages. Really wish there are more of such courses/classes especially in schools, which are so crucial to the changing times.

I would highly recommend all parents to send their children to this Masterclass before they turn 18 and I think MOE should even integrate this into the compulsory secondary curriculum. This is nothing like any other enrichment classes. Children get to learn about the important life skills and gratitude towards parents though immersive experience and activities which are much more effective than lectures and preaching.
